About Us:
Leslie was born on March 28, 1984 in Little Rock, AR. She was raised under a distinctive musical background. Her father was a Baptist minister, and singer/ musician, and her mother was a singer/songwriter. Her father taught her how to play the piano at age 6 and the organ at age 9. She learned how to play the saxophone when she was 13, playing in her Junior High and High School bands. Her mother wrote Christian songs for church choirs and Leslie instinctively picked up on the nature of songwriting. Leslie began writing songs very early. She wrote and recorded “made-up” love songs on a tape recorder as young as the age of 8.
Leslie describes her early experiences with songwriting: “Growing up, songwriting came naturally to me. I had a lot of free time on my hands, and I loved to write about love and relationships......I wrote about feelings that I had never felt before.... Lyrics and melodies just came to my head and I would record them a Capella on a tape recorder, I still have about every tape, from way back then......Now I have taken my songwriting to a more serious level, back then it was more like a past time or a hobby”.
After graduating high school in 2002, she decided that she wanted to professionally pursue a career in the music industry. She had an interest in singing, songwriting, and producing music.
After moving to Memphis, TN, in 2002, she attended the University of Memphis. During this time, she began working with different local record labels, as well as various artists and producers in the Memphis and Little Rock areas. She went to local studios, made friends, and started producing music, and also singing her written songs in the local studios. Unfortunately, none of the connections that she made with these independent music entrepreneurs amounted to a big success in the music industry, but she stays focused, determined to follow her dreams.
Leslie decided to major in Communications and Radio Broadcasting in college. Needing an internship to fulfill graduation requirements, she interned with a local radio station in Memphis, known as HOT 107.1, during the summer of 2004. She was hired and started working in the promotions department at the beginning of the following year, and she still currently works for the station. Leslie also, recently earned a BA degree in Communications and Radio Broadcasting from The University of Memphis, in the summer of 2006.
Leslie has worked with several independent artists and producers, composing projects, such as demos and album singles. She uses the work she does with them to build a collection of her songwriting skills. Her goals include to be able to work with major national/ international artists and producers, as a songwriter and/or a music producer.
Leslie is very goal-oriented, easy to work with, and very creative. She is definitely a person that is full of perseverance, and she is driven to see her goals become an reality.
